The people who listen to grime are mainly the young black culture although there are many different cultures that grime appeals to. Most grime heads wear, tracksuits, baggy jeans, baggy t-shirts

“Grime Headz” have many social hobbies, this includes social gatherings such as “Raves” these are were they get together to listen to grime music, the most popular dance involved in grime is called “skanking” this is a movement of the hands and feet in time with the music, skanking can also be improvised, recording music, having clashes, and this is where they compete with each other to see who has the best lyrics when free styling.

One of the first grime bands to form were called “Roll Deep”, these were among other minor groups one of the first to bring the grim a=scene to the medias attention. There members were Wiley, Dizzy Rascal, Westwood, JME Skepta, Flow Dan, Riko, Scratchy, Breeze, Jet, Li, Manga. Brazen, Target, Danny Weed, DJ Karnage, DJ Maximum, J2K, Killa P, Little Dee.

Another one of the early grime groups that made a big influence was the so solid crew it had over 50 members, men, women and children.

The reason i studied grime artists was to see how they dress what sort of things they do on a day to day basis in order to find what sort of clothing, and attitude my models would need.

School Magazine evaluation

In what ways does your magazine use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real magazines?

My magazine follows many conventions of a real magazine,  however as I saw when analysing other school magazines they do not usually follow all of the forms and conventions. My magazine has most of the basic features of a real magazine this includes a masthead, which is the font Arial,  size 86, and is the colours blue, green and black  I chose this style and colour not only to keep to the house style of the magazine but also  I thought it was quite unisex which is very relevant as my magazine is targeted at both males and females. I decided that  a left hand third would be another element I would include, the writing was the same font and colours of the masthead this again kept the house style the font was size 12 and 24 throughout the magazine similar to the edition of King Edwards IV for girls grammar school. The main image was good quality and was used for the background of my front cover it was the image of my main article ‘uniform wars’ this article and others were used as a result of my audience research.

How does your music magazine represent particular social groups?

My magazine represents admittedly mainly only half of my audience through its persona in the images. As the people used were students, however  some of the articles featured were aimed and represent an older audience because of the  storyline.

Who would your target audience be and why?

My target audience was both males and females ranging from the ages 10 – 48 this is a wide range of people however the fact that it is aimed at students, parents and teachers narrows it down slightly I have chose these three groups of people because they are the ones that are closely related and associated with the school and so would be most likely to buy the magazine the demographics would range from  social class C1 – E as there would be both working and non working class buying the magazine.

How did you attract and address your audience?

Attracting my audience was quite difficult as the target audience was so wide. The colour scheme chosen was green, blue, black and white these colours were chosen as they are mutual, males and females are both attracted to these colours. The font chosen was Arial because again this is a mutual font also it is not aimed at any particular age range. These colours and font were used throughout my magazine to keep to the house style.  something I used to attract the younger part of my audience were my images using young people in my images allowed my younger audience to have personal identification. The articles I used were chosen as a result of my audience research

What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this music magazine? (Lighting, photography, photo shop, indesign)

During the process of my preliminary task I learnt a lot about different technologies, I learnt a lot about how to use photo shop, I realised that some features on photo shop brought down the quality of my magazine for example when my final product was done I noticed that some of the text bled. This is why for my main task of making a music magazine I will be using photo shop only to edit my pictures but to produce my final front cover, single contents, and double article I will be using a software named indesign as I have found that the quality and professionalism of my final product will be more efficient .
